It may slow you down a bit at first

Browsing the web we can find hundreds of methodologies applied to language learning, all of them with their positive and negative aspects, but let's leave aside magic formulas, if there is a method that really improves the experience of assimilating a language, it is none other than language immersion.

“ Linguistic or educational immersion is the intensive exposure to a second language, living in a community that speaks it regularly, in order to learn it more quickly and thus achieve bilingualism in learners.”

Of course, traveling to a country where the language being studied is spoken list of colombia cell phone numbers will help us progress much more quickly, mainly due to the continuous exposure to that language through all the skills.

Unfortunately, most people do not have this option, but do not despair, as Grupo Femxa offers you virtual language immersion.

If the idea is to increase our contact with the language, let's try to make it a constant part of our daily life. Over the next few weeks, we will try to provide you with a series of guidelines so that, little by little, you can "breathe" English, German, Chinese, Occitan or whatever language you want.

Keep in mind that, in order to fully integrate the language, it is necessary to practice the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Therefore, try to practice them daily, even if it is not for a long time. Movies, series, podcasts and even the radio will help you improve your listening. You can also read a chapter a day from a book of your choice and at the end, make a summary. (reading and writing) Oral practice is usually the most complicated but, if you do not have an interlocutor nearby, hey, talk to yourself! Go over your day out loud, the chapter of the book, whatever you want, but yes, it must be out loud, if we do it mentally, we will not be practicing pronunciation since we do not exercise either the vocal cords or any of the other elements that come into action with the act of speaking. You can also sing, and thus avoid putting your mental health in question ;)
Set the language of at least one of the devices you use every day., but you will quickly acquire a lot of new vocabulary intuitively and without much effort. If you are really interested in advancing as quickly as possible, change the language of your keyboard, your computer's operating system and your browser - have fun!
Make the most of downtime. Those moments when you get desperate because the queue is not moving or the bus seems like it will never get to its destination are ideal to take advantage of. Personally, I take advantage of them to play a game in that language on an app like Trivial Pursuit.
Try to practice one of your hobbies in that language. We have already talked about series and games, for example, which are a great help, but what if you start a new one, starting from scratch in that language? For example, learn to make desserts with manuals and recipe books in that language. It is very important to relate a pleasant activity with studying, it will reinforce your interest and increase your productivity.
Try to find a conversation partner. This is very important in order to improve your speaking skills, which is often the main problem for new students. It is not easy to find someone within your radius of action who shares the same interest in the language, but we always have the Internet at our disposal to make social and, why not, conversational relationships. Skype is a great tool for this type of language exchange.
If you think about it calmly, it doesn't seem that expensive or like it's going to take up so much time to do other things, right? Go ahead and try it and tell us how you get on, what things have been more productive and what less so. What other practices would you incorporate into this routine? In later posts, we will continue to provide you with guidelines to incorporate and how to improve each of the skills individually. Good luck with it!
