What's new in WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious”

The long-awaited version 3.0 of our favorite CMS was officially launched yesterday, and it comes loaded with some very tempting new features for developers and users.

This post aims to be a very basic analysis of the new features and possibilities that it offers us, and in the process we will try to resolve some of the first doubts that may arise.

To start, the new version is called “ Thelonious ” in honor botim data of a Jazz composer named Thelonious Monk , and can be downloaded now in Spanish from the official WordPress website .

When we start the installation, the first thing that catches our attention is that (finally) it will force us to customize the default username, which is highly recommended if we want to increase the security of our system.

Once installed and inside the control panel, we find a Dashboard very similar to the previous 2.9.2, since they have only changed the design a little, but if we start to look at the menu we will realize the great leap that our CMS has made compared to the aforementioned previous version.

WordPress MU Integrated:
WordPress MU was until now a side project of the WordPress developers and their community. It was a CMS identical to the first one but with the possibility of creating a network of associated blogs (or multisite ). That is, each user registered on the site could have their own blog under the domain of the “parent” blog.

Well, WordPress MU and WordPress have been merged in this new update.

NOTE: This feature is not enabled by default. You need to open the wp-config.php file and enable it by inserting the line:
