As of today, phone number data and biometric authentication serve as largely separate pillars of digital identity in Bangladesh:

Phone Numbers as Communication and Transactional Identifiers: Phone numbers are widely used for communication, mobile financial services (MFS), and basic online account verification.
Biometric Data for National ID and Specific Services: Biometric data, primarilydatairan number data ingerprints and facial recognition, is central to the national identity (NID) system and is increasingly being used for SIM card registration, access to certain government services, and financial transactions.
