In my last testimony on our blog, I already gave my point of view to business leaders to overcome the corona crisis.

It was in March, at the beginning of the pandemic.

Today, as the talking heads on television whisper the beginning of the end of the crisis at last, I think it is time to look back on the past year and try, together, to understand what we have really learned from it.

If at the beginning of the crisis it seemed clear that deploying online was denmark telegram data no longer just an advantage but a necessity, we now know that online success is intimately linked to the way your brand communicates and manages its customers throughout the purchasing process.

Your marketing efforts, how you get consumers to buy, are just the beginning of the story. In the medium to long term, the brands that stand out online aren’t necessarily those that invest heavily in building great sites, but rather those that understand what’s really important to their customers, both at the time of purchase and beyond.

E-commerce: 5 tips to follow in 2021

I think most business leaders are able to achieve the same level of excellence, but to do so you need to follow a number of guidelines.

1/ Offer your customers options
The health crisis teaches us that we must keep an open mind.

However, such flexibility of mind does not begin – and does not end – only on the managerial aspects of a business. Your customers are looking for a variety of options that fit their lifestyle. They want to choose the most convenient way to receive their orders.

delivery options

Home delivery is the most classic option, but sometimes expensive. I strongly recommend that you offer your customers different alternatives: delivery to the post office, to a relay point, by Chronopost, on Sunday, express delivery in 24 hours, drive, Click & Collect and Call & Collect.

They do it well:

Since the crisis, La Vallée Village has set up a Distance Selling service. The customer makes an appointment with a salesperson and visits the store by video. The order is placed directly over the phone, and the customer then receives it at home via a courier against signature.

Bonhomme de bois offers 4 types of delivery including Call and Collect and delivery by bicycle courier (if less than 3.5 km from the store).

2/ Reassure the customer as much as possible
You did a great job, they placed the order. At this point, the customer should feel like they are “in the loop.” They should be able to follow every step of the ordering process.

You will achieve this by using marketing automation (logistics) to combine various operational emails. How does it work? As soon as the order is received, a notification email is sent.

A second one informs him that his package is ready for shipment, then another one, when the package is shipped. Finally, he receives a link to the delivery tracking.

This way, he can follow each step of the order, from validation to receipt.

If you don't have these logistical capabilities, you can send these notifications manually.

Create any number of templates with customization!

To start, only the customer's first name is needed. If you have other information, use it too!

Even if you run a small business, make it look like a big, well-organized company. It's less work than you think. I promise!
