Why should a guesthouse owner keep a blog?

Post by mostakimvip06 »

In the summer season I will serve up a holiday theme, namely the promotion of guesthouses and agritourism farms on the Internet. You will also learn how the guesthouse blog influenced my choice of form of relaxation.

On the long weekend in June, I dropped in with my family to Tylicz near Krynica. To the U Grzegorza tourist farm. It may sound like a camouflaged promotion of this place, but… Since I am satisfied with my stay, I see no reason not to recommend the guesthouse. Besides, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about the promotion of tourist services on the Internet.

Why did I choose this guesthouse? There were two reasons.
The first reason that made me visit Tylicz and the agritourism farm "U Grzegorza" with my family was simply a good offer. One that met my needs and was prepared with parents with children in mind. The prices of accommodation were not the lowest, but what we received in return completely met our needs.

The second reason was related to my work. Each of us consciously or unconsciously evaluates certain things from the perspective of our profession. When browsing the offers of individual tourist resorts, I pay attention to how the website is built, how the navigation, offer, gallery, etc. are arranged. I look at how a given guesthouse promotes itself: whether it is active in social media, invests in paid Google Ads advertising, or runs a blog, etc. It's a professional deviation. Everyone probably has it. While looking for a place to relax for my family, I also did such research. And what turned out? Many guesthouses and agritourism farms do a good job of promoting themselves on social media. However, "promotion in social media" in 99% of cases comes down to having a Facebook page. However, there are few guesthouses that run a blog. "U Grzegorza" was one of the few that does it and does it quite well. And this was partly the reason that their offer convinced me. I want to point out right away. I didn't buy accommodation with them because they run a blog. I decided to do it because they convinced me through their blog that it was worth coming to them. While other such centers were content with giving me prices, photos, rooms and contact details. "U Grzegorza" gave me something more. And this "something more" decided my choice.

In other words,

If the guesthouse website didn't have a blog, I probably wouldn't have bought the offer. The blog added something new to the website and made it stand out from other websites of this type. It had an advantage over the competition.

I am completely amazed by the fact that so few guesthouses have all contact number list with name company blogs . They do not appreciate this tool in promotion, which I think is a colossal mistake. I will tell you why in a moment.

Why a blog on the guesthouse's website?
It's worth it for several reasons. I'll list the most important ones.

1. A blog is an SEO tool, i.e. natural website positioning.
Search engines consistently rank dynamic content higher than static content. In other words, if new information is added to a site regularly, Google will look at it more favorably. This doesn’t mean that your guesthouse’s site will immediately jump to the top of the search results, but… Google’s goal is to provide the best and freshest search results for a given phrase. If you have a blog on your guesthouse’s site and update it fairly regularly, you already have an advantage over your competitors. There’s a good chance that the freshest search results on the first page will be posts from your guesthouse’s blog.

2. The blog complements and expands knowledge about the guesthouse.
You can include things on your blog that you wouldn't include in your standard offer. You can publish information about current promotions and weekend packages. You can describe the attractions of the region, inform about interesting events that took place in the guesthouse or the surrounding area. Customers like to know a lot about the place they are going to. If you give them this information, you have them in your pocket.

3. A blog is a connection with your guests.
Blog entries are semi-official, and sometimes even completely private. That is why a blog is an ideal tool for strengthening bonds. Unique, unofficial content written in an accessible language will make potential guests look at the guesthouse much more favorably. The guesthouse will cease to be an impersonal building and will become a place close to them, where they will be happy to stay.

4. A blog gives you an advantage over the competition.
As I mentioned earlier. There are not many guesthouses on the market that have blogs. Just starting a blog and updating it regularly will make your guesthouse stand out. Start a blog and edit it wisely and be consistent and success will come.

The recipe for an effective guesthouse blog?
I told the owner of the agritourism farm where I was staying that I liked their website and the way they promoted it on the Internet. “The blog convinced me to visit you,” I admitted truthfully. “Really?” Mrs. Justyna replied with a smile. “Because, you know, you write this blog somewhat intuitively. I imagine that I am a guest and I write on the blog what I would like to know about the guesthouse and the area.
