Analytical Methods for Measuring Chemical Exposure

Post by samiaseo222 »

Quite unexpectedly, I discovered that the version of Global Books In Print used by the librarians reported only 3,626 titles as of January 2000, and remained more or less unchanged into June 2000 -- but then dropped to 3228 titles in August and 3155 in September 2000. It soon became evident that a January 1998 version of Global BIP was all that was available to patrons throughout the city, and even that disappeared by July 2000. These librarians, however, were willing to use their updated network to print out the information needed to gain a current picture of Gordon Press. Most titles are about $250.00.

About 10% of the titles are $600.00 or above. Multi-volume sets are priced anywhere from $1000.00 to well over $9000.00. There seems to be less fluff in the recently renovated Gordon Press data-base. It job function email list clearly appears to be a publisher of scientific and government reports, documents, and technical manuals; more specifically, Gordon Press seems to distribute military and intelligence agency instructional manuals and multi-volume technical references for use by highly trained engineers. The pricing on some of their titles is even more unbelievable than I have already reported. The following book sells for $9995.95 : Manual of in the Workplace 09/1995 Gordon Press Publishers, Library Binding ISBN 0-8490-7523-8. With tax, this single volume easily tops $10,000.00. Who would want such a book that much?

It is probably an essential source for those engaged in the dangerous business of manufacturing chemical weapons. Gordon Press usually claims that they are selling multi-volume sets when they charge this kind of money for their titles. For instance, there is an 8 volume set on Acidic Deposition for $9575.95 . If this is still too rich for your blood, you might settle for the 10 volume Gulf War Air Power Survey for only $9085.95 . However, there is an executive summary report of this survey authored by Thomas A. Keaney and Eliot A. Cohen; but you must write to the DIANE Publishing Company for information on the price.
